COAL CITY FM ENUGU HOLDS MAIDEN OBODO BU IGWE ANNUAL LECTURE SERIES FOR THE PROMOTION OF IGBO LANGUAGE

Governments in the South-East Zone are urged to project and promote Igbo Language to a very acceptable standard to sustain the socio-economic development of the area.

An author of Igbo Literary works, Mazi Chinedu Ofomata made the call while delivering a lecture at the inauguration

of OBODO BU IGWE lecture series at Sam Nwaneri Event Centre, Federal Radio

Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu.

“Obodo Bu Igwe” is one of the Igbo programmes of Coal City FM which thrilled its audience whil

 

e x-raying both the positive and negative aspects of happenings in the society.

Presenting the lecture in Igbo language, Mazi Ofomata explained that the language could not go into extinction if the various governments took some urgent steps such as making the study of Igbo compulsory from kindergarten to tertiary levels.

For the language to develop or grow, Government must be involved”

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, Professor Edwin Onyeneje who represented the Vice Chancellor, commended the initiative and promised that the university would assist in any way possible to make the programme to meet the expectations of the people.

 

The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Mr. Ike Okere in an address of welcome, announced plans by the management to upgrade Voice FM, Nsukka to be a

 

Network Channel in the South East.

 

 

 

As a zonal station, it should be able to relay our network programmes as well as serve as our Igbo 

 

channel”

The facilitator of the programme, Mr. NdudiChude who appeared fulfilled stated the motivating factor behind the programme.

 

 

“For us to move to the next level, I think it is good for us 

to establish something like this”

 Some distinguished organizations and personalities were honoured with for their philanthropic works in the society.

They included Aqua Rapha Investment Limited and Prince Osisioma Foundation.
