CLOUD SECURITY ENGINEER URGES PARENTS TO SUPPORT WOMEN IN SCIENCE

REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU

A Cloud Security Engineer, Miss Janet Njoku, says there is the need for more Nigerian women and girls to be supported to go into the science and technology sector in view of the immense contribuy they can make.

Miss Njoku made the call while speaking with Radio Nigeria on thr 2024 International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

The Cloud Security Engineer noted that women playing as much role as their male counterparts in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics field brings about diversity, which yields positive ideas and innovations.

She noted that many women, who ventured into the cybersecurity were making giant strides and also clearing the path for others to join them to be able to contribute their quota.

For her part, a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Miss Peace Ndukwe, emphasized that women in the medical field go the extra mile to get results, especially in caring for their patients, which was a great benefit of having them in the sector.

Miss Ndukwe encouraged families whose daughters express desire to go into the field of science to support their ambition.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated annually on February 11 to recognise the achievements and contributions of women and girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The theme of this year’s event is “Women and Girls in Science Leadership, a New Era for Sustainability” and the sub-theme is “Think Science … Think Peace.”
