CHRISTIANS CHARGED TO SEEK THE FACE OF GOD DURING LENT

A Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Benjamin Achi has described Lent as a period for Christians to seek the face of God through the renewal of their Christian commitments.

Rev. Fr. Achi stated this in a Holy Mass to commemorate Ash Wednesday at Sam Nwaneri Events Centre, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Enugu National Station

Fr. Achi who is also the Director of Communications, Catholic Diocese of Enugu cautioned the congregation against hypocrisy in the walk with God by tearing their garments but their hearts.

According to him, lent is a time of retreat for the faithful to give themselves the needed moments to re – examine their lives.

He encouraged Christians to use the period to extend alms to the less privileged, to pray and fast, exercises he described as  the three pillars of lent

Three members of staff in an interview said the season had given them the opportunity to renew their commitments to God and humanity.

Correspondent Christian Nwangene reports that the congregation prayed for peace and love in the country.
