Chief Of Army Staff Visits Okorocha
The Nigerian Army say the renewed attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in the North East is an indication that the country is winning the war against terrorism.
The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Rochas Okorocha in government house, Owerri.
He noted that this was a pocket of resistance borne out of frustration on the part of the insurgents, following the total degrading of the Boko Haram ‘forces’
General Buratai explained that the Joint Task Force had continued to dislodge terrorists’ from various camps and assured that the Army would not relent in its effort to ensure peace and unity of the nation.
Responding, the Imo State Governor Chief Rochas Okorocha commended security agencies for their role in fighting Boko Haram despite numerous challenges being experienced.
He appealed for more assistance in maintaining internal security in the state especially as it concerns kidnapping and combating cultism in Ohaji- Egbema local government area of the state.
Correspondent Chinazo Ilechukwu reports that the Chief of Army Staff who was on a tour of military formations in the country visited the 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze where he addressed Officers and Men of the Brigade.
