Channels Television Imo State Correspondent Kidnapped

The Channels Television Correspondent in Imo State, Mr. Eyitope Kuteyi has been kidnapped by hoodlums.

Reports say the Journalist was abducted in his residence in the early hours of today.

The kidnappers were said to had gained access to the house through a perimeter fence, overpowered a private security man guarding the compound and forceful entered the bungalow where the Channels Television reporter was residing.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu has confirmed the incident and said efforts were being intensified to rescue the Journalist.

Spokesperson to the Imo State Governor Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo had in a press statement described the kidnap as a ploy to embarrass the government which has been commended for drastically reducing crime in the state.

He however appealed to the abductors to release their victim without further delay to enable him reunite with his family noting that a Journalist could not afford any ransom.

Meanwhile the hoodlums were allegedly demanding fifteen million naira ransom.
