BAUCHI APPROVES N166.9M SCHOLARSHIP ALLOWANCES FOR STUDENTS

Bauchi State Bauchi-State-Governor-Mohammed-AbubakarGovernor, Mohammed Abubakar, has approved the immediate disbursement of bursary allowances to students in the state who are indigenes. The governor, while inaugurating a 12-man committee saddled with the responsibility of disbursing the allowances, urged them to ensure immediate disbursement of the sum of N166.9m which had been approved for payment of 2015/2016 Bursary Allowances. Governor Abubakar, who was represented by his deputy, Nuhu Gidado, mandated the committee to come up with a comprehensive database of all ongoing students of Bauchi State origin, including their Bank Account Numbers and BVNs. According to him, the state government will subsequently use electronic means to settle students’ bursary allowances. The government in a press statement in Bauchi by Yakubu Adamu, Special Adviser on Communications to the deputy governor, yesterday, said on no account should any student be asked to come over to the state capital for his/her bursary allowance, but noted that cheques would be taken to them in their various institutions. The committee, which will be headed by Alhaji Danlami Garba, has 10 days to carry out its mandate. It would be recalled that Governor Mohammed Abubakar, during a Memorial Lecture organized by NUBASS, assured Bauchi State students of his administration’s readiness to settle their bursary allowances.
