BUS DRIVER BEATEN TO STUPOR BY A SECURITY AGENT IN ENUGU
Some residents of Enugu have condemned the beating of a bus driver, Mr. Chinonso Nwoye by a security agent.
The driver is said to be battling with his life at the ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane.
According to an eyewitness, Mr. Solomon Agbo, the incident occurred when a Police Officer by name Victor Ozoejike, who claimed to be on duty in front of Radio Nigeria Enugu stopped the driver and was attempting to take over the vehicle steering.
Mr. Agbo said trouble ensued when the driver who was carrying other passengers hit another vehicle belonging to a security agent who handcuffed the driver.
Another eyewitness wondered why a driver should be handcuffed and hit severally making him unconscious.
The Vehicle Inspection Officers who were at the scene of the incident took away the bus and allegedly demanded twenty thousand naira for the release of the vehicle.
The brother to the victim, who confirmed the fine, said he cautioned his brother to eat before taking off in the morning.
Reacting to the incident, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu said investigation on the matter was on-going.
