ASWMA DISCOVERS A DAY OLD BABY ABANDONED IN A DUMPSTER IN ANAMBRA STATE

A day old baby boy was discovered Tuesday morning in a waste dumpster in Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. According to eye witnesses, the baby was dumped by an unidentified person in the morning but was not seen until personnel of the Anambra State Waste  Management Agency who  came to evacuate refuse discovered the child.

The baby boy with  umbilical cord was put in a cartoon and dumped inside the ASWMA dumpster alongside a pair of clinical scissors. In an interview, the Head of Enforcement ASWAMA, Mr Raymond Nwasolum told Radio Nigeria that  it was not the first time such incident was discovered by staff members of the agency  as over eight babies were discovered within Awka in 2019.

Mr  Nwasolum who condemned the act , called on residents to assist the agency by looking out for such persons who engage in such illicit act. Some road users and residents who rushed to the scene of the incident also condemned the act which they described as barbaric and disheartening. A team  of  the Nigerian Police from  B Dvision was at  the scene  before the dead baby was evacuated by the Anambra State Waste Management Agency.
