ANAMBRA TO OKAY POS MACHINE FOR REVENUE COLLECTION

A bill for a laPOSw to use Banks and Point of Sales POS machines to collect government revenues has passed second reading in  the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The member representing Orumba North Constituency Mr. Romanus Obi who sponsored the bill said  the government had started using the method in collecting levies and fees but the bill when passed into law would give it a legal backing.

Contributing to the bill, the member representing Anambra East Constituency Mr. Obinna Emenaka urged the people of the State to key into the new method as it would help them  to avoid multiple payments of taxes, levies and fees.

Correspondent Kevin Ekediegwu reports that the Speaker of the House Mrs. Rita Maduagwu later referred the bill to the House Committee on Internally Generated Revenue for deliberation and urged the members to report back to the house in three weeks time.

Meanwhile, Member representing Aguata One Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh has commended the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for its quality news reportage.

Dr. Umeh made the commendation in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Awka.

The Lawmaker said most Nigerians depended largely on Radio Nigeria because of its credibility and unbiased reporting of issues and events that were unfolding in the country.

Dr. Umeh emphasized that, as the best Radio Station of the year, the management of the corporation should  keep the station’s flame alive.
