Governor Wille Obiano of Anambra State has said that his administration is renovating and refurbishing 57 general hospitals in the state with a view to giving them face lift for optimal performances.
The governor who made this known during the foundation laying ceremony of ultra-modern hospital building at the Diocesan Hospital Nnewi, managed by the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi.
Obiano said that his government is also renovating 63 Primary Health Centres in the state, 21 in each senatorial district, adding that his administration has equally started the construction of new houses for doctors as a way of alleviating accommodation problems among resident doctors in the state.
In his address, the hospital Administrator, Rev Maurice Agu, commended the governor for the visit, stating that Governor Obiano was the first governor of the state to have visited the ancient health facility since it was founded in the years 1985 ago.
He reminded the governor how the hospital was marginalised by previous administrations, which, according to him, “did not deem it fit and proper to render assistance or grant to this hospital for infrastructural development.
