Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has announced a relaxation of the 48-hour curfew imposed on the state.

A statement from the office of the Governor explains that the curfew will now be observed between 6am and 6pm.

It states that the relaxation of the curfew is to enable the people to gradually get back to their normal lives after the unrest recorded in some parts of the state last week.

The statement however directs all public, private and mission schools in the area to remain on recess until further notice.

It appeals to youths in the state to unite and guard their communities against intruders, as the security agencies have been strengthened and will continue to maintain peace and order.

It further thanks traditional rulers, the clergy, youth groups and other stakeholders for their continued support to the government in ensuring that life returns to normalcy in the state after the #EndSars protests.

The Governor had earlier imposed a 48-hours curfew on the state following destruction of government buildings and other property, including High Court Complex, Onitsha and some police stations.
