ALARMED: BOY ARRESTED FOR STEALING A WOMAN’S PANTS FOR ALLEGED RITUAL

A 19 year old boy is now in police net for allegedly stealing a female pants in Onitsha Anambra State for ritual purpose.

Parading the suspect at the police headquarters , Amawbia, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, said the matter would be charged to court after investigations the matter.

Radio Nigeria observes that in recent time, there have been growing cases of stealing of pants in residential buildings, which have become a public concern in the state.

Recently in Mgbakwu Community, Awka North Local Government Area, a middle aged man was nabbed and beaten to stupor by angry mob, after he allegedly stole female pants where it was hanged on the rope at about two O’Clock in the morning.

Addressing newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Haruna Mohammed, said the suspect, Chinonye Okorie, from Ogbaku in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo State on Wednesday last week allegedly stole the female pants spread at number 21 Umunna Street Odoakpu , Onitsha with the intent to sale it for ritual purposes to yet to be identified persons at the rate #80,000.00.

Mr. Mohammed therefore cautioned members of the public, especially the female folk, to be vigilant and know where to spread their pants in other to avert the new trend of crime in the society.

In an interview, the suspect, Chinonye Okorie, a form 3 secondary school student, said he was approached by three unknown men who asked him to go and get a female pants that they would pay him #80,000.00.

He narrated that he went into their compound and stole pants hanged on the rope but was caught by a sister to the owner of the pants.

Earlier, the owner of the pants, miss Mary Offordile, told journalists that her younger sister who did not go to school on that day, caught the suspect (who is their neighbour) taking the pants from rope, thinking that there was no one at home at that moment .

She noted that more than ten pants had been missing at different times in the compound for some time now.

The police said efforts were on to apprehend other accomplices in other to bring them to justice.
