AISHA BUHARI WAGES WAR AGAINST HIV/AIDS THROUGH HER PET PROJECT
The Coordinator and Communication Technical Lead officer of Aisha Buhari Foundation, Mrs Tessy Maina says the Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari is very passionate about improving the well-being of women and children in the country.
Mrs Maina made this known in Umuahia during an advocacy meeting on Maternal, New born and Child Health Week organized by Aisha Buhari Foundation in collaboration with Vicar Hope foundation and the Ministry of Health, Abia State.
She noted that the “Future Assured Programme” a pet project of the wife of the President would continue to provide technical support to states to reposition the health sector.
In a message to the occasion, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State represented by the commissioner for Health, Dr. John Ahukanna stated that through the Save One Million Lives Initiative which was focused on evidence-based and cost effective intervention, the State Government was poised to tackle the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the area.
In an address, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu stated
that the State Government was making efforts to ensure that children born in the State were free from HIV/AIDS.
She commended the wife of the President for her contributions in championing the cause to reduce mother to child transmission of HIV.
