AFRICAN COUNTRIES URGED TO FOCUS ON TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
As African Union Day is celebrated today, governments of countries in African continents have been urged to harness their available resources and technological potential to ensure economic development.
A Political Scientist, Mr Hyginus Okibe made the call in Enugu while commenting on this year’s celebration with the theme, “Global Networking and Modern economy”.
Mr Okibe attributed underdevelopment of the countries in Africa to continued dependence on the various erstwhile colonial masters who influenced their policies.
He called on African Countries to come together and develop their capacities to enable them to advance and bring the continued exploitation of African continent to an end.
The day is observed as public holiday in some African countries.
