ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES SUSPENDED AT NAU

NAUThe Academic Staff Union of Universities, NnamdiAzikiwe University, Awka Anambra State has joined the strike declared by its National body.

The Chairman of the Union in the University, Professor Dennis Aribodor, while addressing newsmen in Awka, said they decided to join the strike after several hours of their congress.

He claimed that the Federal Government had reneged severally on agreements it entered into with the union since 2009 and 2013.

Professor Aribodor who emphasized that substantial aspects of the 2009 and 2013 agreements had remained unimplemented enumerated some of the current issues of dispute to include, earned academic allowances, funding for the revitalization of public Universities staff schools, fractionalization and non-payment of salaries.

He further stressed that the strike became imperative since all possible avenues employed by the union to resolve the matter failed.
