ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT LAMENTS DISOBEDIENCE TO BAN ON INTER-STATE MOVEMENT

The Abia State Government has expressed displeasure at the indiscriminate flouting of the Presidential order banning interstate movement in the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Chief John Kalu, made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia.

Chief Kalu, in telephone interview, described the recent discovery and interception of a vehicle carrying youths suspected to be almajiri from the north parts of the country to Abia State as unfortunate.

The Commissioner expressed shock that despite the various warnings, a family smuggled and buried in the state their deceased relative suspected to have died of COVID-I9 in Kano State.

He urged the people of the state not to mistake the easing of lockdown for the pandemic being over but as a time for them to be more vigilant and abide by the laid down precautionary guidelines, including compulsory wearing of face mask, social distancing and maintenance of hygiene.

The Information Commissioner also urged the people, who must go to market on the days allowed by government, to ensure they obeyed the prescribed guidelines to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
