452 DRUG SHOPS SEALED IN IMO STATE FOR VIOLATING THE LAWS GUIDING THE PRACTICE. …PCN

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, PCN has sealed four hundred and fifty two drug dispensing shops in Imo state for allegedly violating the laws guiding the practice.

The Director, Inspection and Monitoring PCN, Abuja Mrs. Anthonia Aruya made this known while briefing Journalists at the end of a one week enforcement exercise embarked by the National Enforcement Team of the council in the state. She explained that the offences ranged from noncompliance to Federal government’s policy on location of drug markets to unauthorized dealing on controlled drugs by patent medicine dealers as well as non-possession of valid license to practice.

Mrs. Aruya said the action of the Council was to sanitize the distribution value chain towards the provision of quality pharmaceutical service delivery to Nigerians. She  advised the public to always look out for pharmacists’ annual license to practice and the premises certificate which should be conspicuously displayed as well as that of the patent medicine dealers to avoid patronizing quacks.

A total of five hundred and fifty seven drug shops comprising sixty eight pharmacies and four hundred and eighty nine patent medicine vendors were visited across the state.
