2024: GOV NWIFURU PRESENTS N202.127 BILLION BUDGET PROPOSAL TO ASSEMBLY

Ebonyi State Government has presented 202.127 billion Naira as its Budget proposal to the State House of Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year.

Laying the Budget, christened “Budget of Innovation and Progress” at the Floor of the House, Governor Francis Nwifuru noted that the contents of the proposed budget were in line with the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs.

Governor Nwifuru stated that the Recurrent Expenditure of the Budget stood at N69.323 billion representing 34% while Capital Expenditure was N132.804 billion representing 66%.

He pointed out that the Economic Sector received the highest provision with N90.382 billion while the Social Sector had N66.198 billion, emphasizing that Health and Education would be priority sectors.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Moses Odunwa, said the legislature and the executive would continue to collaborate for the development of the state.

He promised to ensure accelerated passage of the budget after defense by Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The budget proposal later scaled through the first reading after its adoption as a working document by the House of Assembly.
