Nigeria Joins Others to Mark United Nation’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

Today is observed as United Nation’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

The day aims at creating awareness on the need to eradicate poverty and destitution worldwide, particularly in developing countries,.

Speaking on efforts to eradicate poverty in Enugu State, the Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Poverty Reduction, Deacon Obinna Mbaeke said the government had initiated many programmes meant to promote the economic well being of the people.

Deacon Mbaeke advised residents to participate in the programmes to improve their living.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Stand Up, Speak Out, Against Poverty and Inequality”.
