MOTHERS HAVE BEEN CALLED TO PRESENT THEIR PRESENT THEIR CHILDREN FOR IMMUNIZATION AGAINST MEASLES

ThIMG_20160129_144508e wife of the Awgu local Government Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mrs Ifeoma Okeke has called on all mothers and caregivers in the area to present their children and wards who are between the ages of nine months and five years for immunization against measles.

Mrs Okeke spoke during the commencement of the measles immunization campaign at central school Ogbaku, Awgu Local Government Area yesterday. On the occasion, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Stanley Okeke explains that his government is emulating Government Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his wife ensuring good health for the people.

He urged traditional rulers and church leaders to sensitize their people for the exercise. The member representing Awgu South at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr Nelson Uduji appealed to the people of the area to ensure that they utilized the opportunity to immunized their children.

A mother, Mrs Theresa Okolo whose child benefited from the exercise commended the organizers and promised to take the message home.

Our Online Corespondent Uchenna Chukwuedo reports that the highlight of the event was a special prayer session led by the Parish Priest of Saint Dominic Parish  Ogbaku the Reverend Father Mathias Udeonu calling on God to protect people of the area from disease.
