MORE CAMPAIGN FOR CHILD IMMUNIZATION ADVOCATED

The Director, National Orientation Agency, Abia State, Dr. Ngozi Uduma has called on parents especially mothers to disregard negative information on child immunization being speculated in the country.

Speaking during a town hall meeting which centered on promoting child vaccination in Umuahia South Local Government Area, Dr. Uduma noted that such misinformation was propaganda from mischievous people who have no interest of the children at heart.

She stated that through immunization, children from zero to five years would be protected from childhood killer diseases such as polio and diarrhea.

Also speaking on the occasion, the State Immunization Officer, Mr. John Onwubufor pointed out that negative reports on child vaccination could be dangerous to the well being of a child.

Some of the participants called for more awareness campaign on the fight against misinformation on immunization through churches and the mass media.

Over three hundred participants drawn from different organizations, traditional rulers, security agencies and market women attended the town hall meeting.
