NATIONAL BROADCAST ACADEMY MARKS 60TH ANNIVERSARY
Journalists are advised to acquire more skills to meet up with the challenges of the new global digital media.
A veteran journalist, Otumba Gbenga Onoyiga gave the advice at a public lecture to mark the 60th anniversary of the National Broadcast Academy, NBA, Lagos, the training school of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
Otumba Onoyiga whose lecture was entitled “Traditional Media in an Era of the Social Media; The Convergence on Ethics,” explained the need for journalists to update themselves regularly to remain relevant in that profession and count the negative impact of the social media.
He charged students of the National Broadcast Academy to be resolute and confident of the journalism profession.
In a message, the Director General FRCN, Dr. Mansur Lima represented by the Director of Finance, Mr. Michael Oluwale, noted that NBA had trained thousands of broadcasters from both public and private media organizations saying that the academy would soon be upgraded to a degree awarding institution.
Earlier, the Director of the school, Abiola Ajjibola expressed the institution’s determination to remain one of the foremost training academies in the country.
The National Broadcast Academy, NBA, was established in 1957.
