arms-discovered-in-benueThe Benue State Security Council on Tuesday 18th Oct. 2016 displayed arms and ammunition as well as other dangerous weapons it recovered from a wanted criminal and cattle rustler, Mr Terwase Akwaza alias Gana who has been terrorising the people of the state with his gang.
Displaying the weapons at Government House, Makurdi, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, commended the Nigerian Army, the Police, State Security Services (SSS) and other security agencies for their synergy and cooperation to ensuring law and order in the state.
Ortom disclosed that apart from the weapons that were recovered during the carrot approach of the amnesty programme, the security operatives, have now commenced the stick approach which led to the recovery of more arms, arrest of criminals and vowed that all criminal
acts such as, assassinations, cultism and armed robbery shall become a thing of the past in the state.
‘’Since Gana and his group have vowed that the citizens of the state would not sleep with their eyes closed, the security agencies in collaboration with Benue State government have also vowed that Benue citizens must sleep with their eyes closed and the security would do everything possible to apprehend the wanted criminal and his gang,’’ he stated.
Governor Ortom further restated that Gana and his group will not find a resting place because security operatives will continue to pursue them to their hole to apprehend them, saying that when they are caught, they will be made to face the full wrath of the law, and added that by the grace of God Gana must be arrested, “why should someone possess these kind of weapons to kill human beings”? he asked.
Items recovered, including two rocket casings, one carton of explosives, military uniforms, military helmet, a bunch of charms, 10 mobile phones, two bags of India hemp, one Dane gun, and one red motor cycle power bike were from Gana’s gang at Gbishe.
