NYSC DG PLEDGES TO PRIOITISE WELFARE OF CORPS MEMBERS

Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Enugu State have been told to be committed to their service to the Nation.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General SulemanKazaure stated this when he paid a working visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp at Awgu, Enugu State, where he interacted with 2017 Batch B Stream One Corps members of the Scheme.

“The provision and maintenance of orientation camp is the statutory responsibility of the state government but we have started renovating here but I’m sure the state government will take over. And for security of corps members, we have already into collaboration with other security agencies.”

Brigadier-General Kazaure said National integration and service to the nation, remained the focal point of the scheme.

In an address of welcome, the Co-ordinator of NYSC in Enugu State, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka, encouraged the corps members posted to the State to be of good conduct and contribute to national development.

“The activities of the camp are going on, lectures are going on, physical exercises, meditation, a lot of competitions are going on; if you are our friend on facebook, everything in Enugu camp is covered.”

Alhaji Ikaka said that the water challenges in the Orientation Camp would be addressed.

The corps members later entertained the Director- General and other Guests with cultural dances.

Similarly, Brigadier-General Suleiman Kazaure wants corps members serving in Imo State to take advantage of the Community Development Service of the Scheme to impact positively on the lives of their host-communities.

General Kazaure gave the charge when he visited the 2017 “Batch B” Stream 2”, Corps members undergoing orientation course at the NYSC camp in Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government area of Imo State.

Brigadier-General Kazaure who is on a four-day NYSC Orientation Camps in the country reminded youths of the need to maintain peace and do those things that would promote unity among Nigerians.

He urged corps members to be security conscious and always respect the culture and tradition of their host-communities.

General Kazaure gave an assurance to the people that the welfare of the corps members would continue to be accorded priority and encourage them to always call his mobile phone whenever they had any issue agitating their minds.

The State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Josephine Bakare said 1,555 corps members registered in the camp had fully adjusted to the camp activities.

Brigadier General Sule Kazaure also paid a visit to 2017 Batch B stream One corps members deployed to Abia State at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Umunna Bende Local Government Area.

During the event, the NYSC DG urged corps members have been urged to ensure that they execute projects that would be beneficial to their host communities during their service year.

He noted that the NYSC decided to introduced skill acquisition program as a way of ensuring that corps members became self reliant immediately after their service year.

Brigadier General Kazaure advised the corps members to shun all forms of sharp practices and be good ambassadors of the corps during and after their service year.

In an address, the State Coordinator NYSC Abia State, Mrs. Francesca Ifon while welcoming the DG to the camp stated that security had been one of the major challenges in the camp as criminals had being invading the area vandalizing their equipment.

She commended the Director General’s efforts and roles played during the security crisis era that engulfed the state in September this year.
