FG INAUGURATES 2 MOBILE POWER TRANSFORMERS IN ABIA

Two power transformers have been inaugurated in Abia State as part of Federal Government’s effort to increase power supply in the country.

The mobile power transformers are situated in Umuahia and Aba.

On the occasion, the Minister of Power, Mr. Babatunde Fashola said that one of the mobile power transformers in Umuahia would increase power supply from 80 MVA to 120 MVA, which would cover areas like Umunneochi, Umuahia, Ohafia, Isukwuato Ikwuano and some parts of Arochukwu.

He also explained that the second mobile power transformer in Aba would increase power from 127.5 MVA to 187.5 MVA.

Mr. Fashola noted that the Federal Government had in the last two years improved power supply in the country to 7000 mega watts stating that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was committed towards improving the living conditions of the people through adequate provision of power supply.

Earlier, while receiving the Minister at Government House Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu commended the Minister for his efforts towards improving the power sector.

The Governor, who identified power as key to economic development of any society, urged the Federal Government to ensure that more mobile power transformers were provided.
