ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY WANTS FG TO IMMORTALISE EKWUEME
Anambra State House of Assembly has called on the Federal Government to name an Institution after the former Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
The Lawmakers made the resolution during a plenary session in Awka.
The member representing Orumba North Constituency, which is the Constituency of the Late Vice-President, Mr. Romanus Obi, who moved the motion, described Dr. Alex Ekwueme as a true democrat who made sacrifices for the unity of the country.
Mr. Obi observed that Dr. Ekwueme served on the Committee on Structure and framework of the Constitution and made proposal on Just and equitable power sharing based on political zones as well as the formation of G-34.
While supporting the motion, the member representing Orumba South Constituency, Princess Nikky Ugochukwu described Dr. Ekwueme as the pride of the old Aguata and Anambra State.
Also at the plenary, the House renewed the tenure of the Transition Committee Chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.
