ACADEMICS AND GOVERNMENTS URGED TO REDOUBLE EFFORTS IN PROMOTING READING CULTUREON THE OCCASION OF WORLD POETRY DAY
An Enugu-based Poet, Mr. IzuChigbolumogu has reiterated the need for academics and the government to redouble their efforts in promoting reading culture especially among youths.
The suggestion comes as the country joins the global community to celebrate World Poetry Day.
Mr. Chigbolumogu who describes poetry as a literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas are given intensity by the use of distinctive style and rhythm says that the day is mapped out by UNESCO in 1999 as effort to support and appreciate poets all over the world.
The poet advises his colleagues hoping to make life meaningful from literature to imbibe the habit of writing and reading widely.
The day also seeks to promote Linguistic diversity and expression through poetry.
