NASS TO DEBATE, PASS 2016 N6.8TRN BUDGET TODAY

THE NationBuhari-Presenting-Budget2-265x160al Assembly will today debate the report of Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Appropriation on the 2016 Appropriation Bill before proceeding on its Easter recess. The debate and passage would take place after weeks of buck-passing on alleged missing figures and errors in the budget estimates. With the report, the National Assembly would approve President Buhari’s Bill for an Act to authorize the issue from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation, the of N6,077,680,000,000. President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, presented estimates of the 2016 Budget of N6.8 trillion before a joint session of the National Assembly. As a prelude to today’s debate, the National Assembly, yesterday, laid the report of the Committee on Appropriation on the 2016 Appropriation Bill. While the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje, laid that of the Senate, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, laid that of the lower house. The report of the conference committee on the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Stretegy Paper (FSP) was also laid on the floor of the Senate. It was laid by the chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator John Enoh, PDP, Cross River Central.
