FIGHT CORRUPTION WILL ONLY SUCCEED THROUGH STRONG INSTITUTIONS – PROF. OBI

A Professor of Economics, Ken Obi, has called for sustained efforts towards fighting corruption to pave way for economic development in the country.

Professor Obi, who was speaking on this year’s Anti Corruption Day, stated that corruption had far reaching negative consequences on the economy, noting that it scared away local and foreign investors while the ease of doing business was negatively affected.

The Don argued that corruption must be fought to a standstill through strong institutions.

“All these institutions work together to ensure that we move the society forward. The judiciary we say it is corrupt, that is a problem to the society. If you come to the education sector, health section, the same thing. What do you find? You see that the linkage is very, very weak. It affects the economy as a whole. It also affects it sectorially. I must say they are doing something but we need more transparency.”

Professor Obi appealed to all Nigeria to support the current efforts by President MuhamaduBuhari led administration to stamp corruption out of the country.
