FG COMMENCES CONSTRUCTION OF BIO-RESEARCH CENTRE AND LEATHER INSTITUTE IN IMO STATE

The Federal Government has reiterated its determination to promote indigenous technology and skill acquisition among youths.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu gave the assurance during the ground-breaking of a Bio-Research and Development Centre of Nigeria Institute of Leather and Science Technology at Okwudor in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.

He said the bio-research centre when operational would accelerate transfer of technology to boost food production.

Dr. Onu noted that the centre would be equipped with laboratories and workshops to facilitate its operations.

On the Leather Institute, Dr. Onu said the Centre would encourage leather production to meet the needs of Nigerians and earn foreign exchange for the country.

The Minister charged the community to protect the facilities for speedy completion of the project.
