ENUGU STATE GOVT MAPS OUT OVER 2BN FOR EDUCATION, STREET LIGHTS, OTHERS.

Over 200 million of the bailout fund has been approved for staff of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT.

The State Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche Eze made this known after the State Executive Council Meeting held at the government house, Enugu.

Professor Eze explained that the fund was to pay-off the 7 months monetization arrears owed to the staff of the university since 2006.

Professor Eze further revealed that the state executive council also approved over ₦2.5 billion for the clearing and perimeter fencing of the permanent site of the Enugu State College of Education Technical at Ihe in Agwu Local Government Area as well as for the construction of new classroom blocks, renovation of dilapidated ones, purchase of seats, chairs and sporting equipment for schools across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Meanwhile, the commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Greg Nnaji, said that the council also approved the installation of solar streetlight on the newly reconstructed Works Road, through the New Market- Ngwo axis.

Also, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Oguagu Anikwe, said that the council approved the conversion to permanent staff some of the traffic wardens employed by the ministry of transport.

Following the dissolution of the Nike Lake Resort Hotel Board by the executive council, Mr. Ogbuagu said that the council approved the purchase of a generating set for the hotel to solve its power problem and water challenge for it to regain its pride of place.
