CBN ANCHOR BORROWERS SCHEME OKAYS DISBURSMENT OF FARM INPUTS TO ABIA FARMERS

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has given approval for the Abia State Anchor Borrowers Scheme to disburse to farmers all farming input to help in maximum food production for the country. The Chairman of the Anchor Borrowers Programme Abia State and former Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Chief Israel Amanze,gave the hint while interacting with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia.

According to Chief Amanze, the CBN has expressed readiness at funding all farming activities in totality even to the point of harvest, especially in rice production, which the scheme was championing. He, however, stressed the needed for proper enrolment of farmers into the scheme so as to benefit from the incentives.

On the yam export initiative of Federal Government, Chief Amanze described it as a veritable tool for job creation and a boost to the ailing economy of the country. He therefore called for support from all at realizing such goal, especially in the area of quarantine services, which he said would ensure that the quality of yam being exported met the international standard.
