ENCOURAGE YOUR YOUTHS TO FILL ABIA QUOTA — POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION BEGS GOV OTTI
REPORTER: PEACE AGBO
In continuation of the ongoing police enrolment, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reiterated his resolve to collaborate with the Police Service Commission to illicit the interest of Abia youths to join the Police force.
Governor Otti stated this when he received in audience, a delegation from the Police Service Commission(PSC) led by a Deputy Director of Procurement in the Commission, in-charge of Police recruitment in the State, Mrs. Uche Wokocha.
They were in the state to conduct medical examinations for the recruitment.
Governor Otti stressed the need for a change of strategy in communicating and mobilizing Abia youths to fill the employment quota allocated to the State.
The Governor noted that lack of interest and failing medical tests as a result of substance abuse were part of the reasons for the low enlistment of Abia youths into the police force.
The Governor described drug abuse as very unfortunate and assured the delegation “the state would not relent in the fight against the menace until desired result is achieved.”
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mrs. Uche Wokocha, commended Governor Otti for being supportive and ensuring that Abia children in Police academy were well taken care of.
Mrs. Wokocha expressed the hope that the approval of the Federal Government for the establishment of a Police College in Akwa Ibom State would encourage more Abia youths to join the Police.
The delegation also commended Governor Otti’s developmental strides in the state and advised him to sustain the tempo.
