Governor Alex Otti of Abia State says the approval of the South East Commission will play a pivotal role in reintegrating the South East into national development Initiatives.
Governor Otti stated this when he received a delegation from the South East Development Commission (SEDC) at his country home in Umuehim Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
He called on the Board and Management of SEDC to prioritize power Supply as a critical driver of industrialization and economic growth in the region.
The Governor stressed that stable power supply was essential for businesses to thrive and for the region to reclaim its industrial glory.
The visit was part of the Commission’s ongoing tour of South East Governors to align their administrations with SEDC’s development blueprint.
Gov. Otti emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to advance the development of the South East and pledged his administration’s readiness to partner the Commission in key areas.
Earlier, the Chairman of the SEDC, Chief Emeka Wogu acknowledged Governor Otti’s dedication to infrastructural development in Abia State.
Chief Wogu assured the Commission’s commitment to address the developmental challenges facing the region.
He particularly pledged to bridge the gaps created by years of neglect and driving sustainable progress through the mandate of reconstruction, reconciliation, rehabilitation and reintegration.
For his part, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the SEDC, Dr. Mark Okoye, while presenting the Commission’s strategic roadmap, emphasized that the goal is to revive the South East’s economy to its former status as the fastest-growing regional economy.
This, he said, would be done by leveraging the zone’s strengths in Technology, Entrepreneurship and Agriculture.
