VIRAL VIDEO ASSUALT: ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND BEGINS DISCIPLINARY ACTION AGAINST PERSONNEL

The Police Command in Anambra State has arrested the policemen seen in a viral video assaulting a citizen in the state.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nnaghe Itam, had ordered immediate disciplinary proceedings to commence on the incident.

The statement said, Mr. Itam assured members of the public that the oolicemen had been identified and necessary actions would be taken against them.

It said the Command would also invite the victim to come forward and help in facilitating the necessary procedures involved in the process.

The statement explained that the Commissioner of Police reiterated that the command under his watch would not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct by police personnel and emphasized the need for his officers and men to be courageously calm when dealing with the civil populace, especially when being provoked.

The statement, however, urged citizens to respect the civil authority and be law-abiding always.
