HEAVY RAIN WREAKS HAVOC IN UMUAHIA

Some residents of Umuahia metropolis are now counting their losses following a recent heavy rainfall.
The rain which started at about 6pm with mild showers became heavier with strong winds.
When Radio Nigeria went round some parts of Agbama Housing Estate, one part of the fence of a worship center was completely pulled down while the gate was slightly damaged.
At another part of the estate, the timely intervention of some residents saved the lives of two children who were carried by the surging water.
At Low Cost Housing Estate, the combined effort of some residents also saved a child from being drowned.
At World Bank Housing Estate, Radio Nigeria also saw a fence that fell and caused extensive damage in another compound.
The rain is coming barely five days after another downpour with strong winds caused damage to both residential and commercial property, as well as power outage in most parts of Umuahia metropolis.
