FG TO REVIEW CERTAIN ROAD CONTRACTS — UMUAHI

The Federal Government says it will review road contracts it awarded to enable it to determine variations on the cost of materials caused by the rising inflation.
The Minister of Works, Chief David Umahi, stated this in an interview with journalists in Uburu, Ebonyi State.
Chief Umahi pointed out that the review would take place when the economy stabilizes but would not include road projects where the contractors had received about 30% advance payment of the contract sum.
The Minister of Works said the Federal Government was making efforts to embark on the production of reinforcement at Ajeokuta Steel Complex as part of measures to reduce the cost of building road projects and other infrastructure in the country.
Chief Umahi also said the Federal Government was pleased with efforts by the Ebonyi State Government to revamp Nigercem Cement Factory Nkalagu and called on the people of South East to be patient over the hash economic situation in the country, explaining that President Tinubu was working round the clock to address the challenges.
