ABIA SEEKS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH INDONESIA

Abia State gGovernment expresses its readiness to go into foreign partnerships for economic growth and development of the state.

The state Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, made this known when he received the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Nigeria, Dr. Usra Hendra Harahap, in his country home Novsi in Isiala South Local Government Area.

Governor Otti revealed the plans for a collaborative venture between the government and the private sector to construct a new seaport in Ukwa East Local Government Area of the state.

He appealed for support to establish an entrepreneurship and technology development center and assured the Indonesia Ambassador of the state’s commitment to providing enabling environment for investors.

According to Governor Otti, Abia is willing to collaborate with Indonesia in areas of Education, Agriculture, Health, SMEs, Entrepreneurship and Technology.

He thanked the Ambassador for identifying Abia State as a worthy partner and expressed optimism that the collaboration would be fruitful.

Earlier, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Nigeria, Dr. Harahap, said his visit was to demonstrate his countrys sincere commitment to fostering diplomatic cooperation with Nigeria and Abia State.

The Ambassador explained that those sectors mentioned by Governor Otti were the key areas to unlock shared economic prosperity and creating opportunities for the people of Indonesia and Abia State.

In the area of education, the Ambassador stated that Indonesia is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to bright and ambitious students from Abia State.
