MINIMAL ATTENDANCE AS SCHOOLS RESUME IN EBONYI, COMMISSIONER LAUDS BUDGETARY ALLOCATION

REPORTER: COSMAS EGBA

As primary and secondary schools in Ebonyi State re-open for the second term 2023/2024 academic session today, the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Paul Nwobashi, says favorable budgetary allocation to education sector will lead to greater achievements for improved teaching and learning.

Professor Nwobashi noted that the huge budgetary allocation anchored on the sector would result in construction of more class room blocks, reconstruction of dilapidated ones, provision of needed teaching and learning facilities as well as employment of more teachers to guarantee efficient delivery in the sector.

Professor Nwobashi commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for priority attention to education for a progressive society and human capacity development by courageously placing it on top of his championed “People’s charter of needs.”

He urged management and teachers of every public school in the area to rise up to their core-responsibity to ensure standard in teaching and learning.

The Commissioner, who described 2024 as total recovery in the education sector, charged host communities of public schools to contribute favorably to the success of the school in their respective areas in their own interest.

Meanwhile, findings in some schools visited show average attendance by teachers and school children who were busy clearing the school environment.
