CHRISTMAS: GOV OTTI CALLS FOR RESPONSIBLE CELEBRATION

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has urged residents of the state to imbibe the true spirit of Christmas by celebrating responsibly.

Governor Otti gave the advice in his Christmas message in Umuahia.

According to the Governor, Christmas is a better time to express love and care for families, friends and neighbours, especially the less privileged in the society.

He encouraged the residents to be responsible, disciplined and shun recklessness, consumption of hard drugs and illicit substances as well as acts capable of endangering their wellbeing.

The Governor called for peaceful co-existence among the residents in the state, stressing that nothing could be achieved in an atmosphere of strife and social anxiety.

While continued working as a government to make every part of the state attractive to domestic and foreign investors, Governor Otti noted that much more would be achieved when the elite in the communities get involved, driving the development process according to the most pressing needs of the people.

He however, welcomed all who have travelled from far and near to celebrate Yuletide in the state to witness the great things God is doing in Abia state especially in the areas of infrastructural development, improved urban sanitation and the new sense of optimism amongst the people.
