IMO GUBER: EFCC WHISKS AWAY 3 SUSPECTED VOTE BUYERS AS APAGA CANDIDATE DEMANDS INEC NEUTRALITY IN RESULT COLLATION IN IMO

There was a mild drama in polling units 001 and 002 in Ekeama awaka, Owerri North as official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed the area and arrested 3 persons suspected to be involved in vote buying in the area.

After they left, voting continued without disruption.

In all the polling units visited in Egbu, Awaka and Emekuku, voting started at about 9.30 am.

At prilimage centre polling unit 010, the polling unit was moved to another area.

There was low turnout of voters as people did not turn out to vote.

In all the areas visited, the environment was peaceful as voting and accreditation went on simultaneously.

However, voting has ended in most of the polling units.

Meanwhile, as the people of Imo State await result of the governorship election, the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Tony Ejiogu appeals to the electoral Umpire to maintain neutrality in the collation and announcement of the winner.

Mr. Ejiogu made the plea shortly after exercising his franchise at his home booth of 007 Emekuku ward 2 in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.

The APGA candidate, who expressed satisfaction with the level of voter turnout, noted that the people wanted the right candidate to emerge victorious from the exercise.

He told INEC to shun results that would emernate from areas where election could not hold so as to give the exercise credibility.

Mr. Tony Ejiogu therefore appealed to the people of the state to accept the outcome of the election if the process maintains free fair and transparent.
