POLICE, ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY PARTNER SWAN FOR SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye has commended Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for being at the forefront national unity.

Mr. Adeoye stated this while receiving the newly elected executive members of the Association at the Command’s Headquarters, Amawbia. Awka South Local Government Area.

While noting that SWAN had done a noble service to the country for decades, Mr. Adeoye encouraged the new executive to keep the flag flying and convey quality sporting activities to Nigerians.

The Commissioner of Police noted that the command would partner the Anambra State Chapter of SWAN in all its proposed sporting activities during their week coming up in December.

He also hinted that plans were on by his leadership, to collaborate with the sports journalists in organising a sporting games for all the security agencies in the area which would cement relations among officers and men of the command.

Earlier, the Chairman of SWAN Anambra State Chapter, Mr Chimezie Anaso, extolled the pivotal and traditional role the Police play in the security component of the society and more specifically the way the Police Command in Anambra State had helped to provide an enabling environment for sports to thrive in the state.

The SWAN executive had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze, who expressed willingness to partner sports journalists for positive reportage of sporting activities in the state.

The Speaker, who congratulated the newly elected SWAN executive on their victory, charged them to come up with programmes that would impact both her members and the public.

Radio Nigeria’s Uche Ndeke who is the Assistant Secretary of Association reports that Ace Sports presenter Ikem Asika and veteran sports writers, Emma Ndukuba and Sab Osuji accompanied the new SWAN Executive on the visit.
