INEC DEPLOYS MATERIALS FOR MARCH 18 POLLS IN IMO, PROMISES SEAMLESS ELECTION
REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (IMO) in Imo State, Professor Sylvia Agu, says the Commission has made alternative logistics arrangement to ensure timely deployment of personnel and materials to polling units in the state for this Saturday’s election.
Professor Agu stated this in Owerri during the distribution of sensitive materials to the 27 local government areas for the conduct of State House of Assembly election in Imo State.
Professor Agu explained that adequate security had been put in place to ensure that voting will take place in troubled areas of the state.
The REC said INEC ad-hoc staff that would participate in the election had been adequately trained to discharge their duties seamlessly, noting that the Bimodal Verification and Accreditation System (BIVAS) that would be used for the poll had been duly reconfigured.
Professor Agu assured the commitment of the Commission to conduct free, fair and credible election in the state, adding that she would always be guided by her conscience.
The distribution of the sensitive materials was monitored by representatives of various political parties in the state.
