ABIA: ONLY 2 DEATHS RECORDED IN DEC 2022 ROAD CRASHES — FRSC
REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Command, says it recorded twelve road traffic crashes during the month of December 2022.
Of the crashes, two were fatal and claimed two lives, six were serious, four were minor while forty-three injuries were recorded.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Abia, Mr. Paul Ugwu, gave the data to Radio Nigeria during an interview in Umuahia.
He said this was an improvement from 2021 December during which fourteen road traffic crashes were recorded, three of which were fatal, eight serious and five minor, though fewer injuries were recorded.
Mr. Ugwu noted that the strategies adopted by the Command were very effective as no grid lock was recorded at the Abia Tower, Umuahia, while the flyover at Osisioma in Aba played a vital role in keeping traffic stable at that axis while the new trailer park at Lokpanta prevented trucks from packing along the road.
The Sector Commander added that the synergy with other agencies also played a huge role in ensuring smooth flow of traffic despite some challenges they encountered.
He assured motorists that they would not relent in working towards achieving zero road crashes.
