The National Population Commission (NPC) has reiterated its commitment to conduct the best national census that will provide the country with verifiable data in resetting the economy.

The Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission incharge of Ebonyi State, Chief Darlington Okereke, announced this in Abakaliki at the end of training for NPC Trainee Facilitators from Ebonyi and Enugu States.

The one hundred and thirty-seven participants in the event were selected from various public institutions in Ebonyi and Enugu States with the aim of equipping them with requisite knowledge to train adhoc staff to be recruited for the 2023 National Census.

The Federal Commissioner incharge of Ebonyi State, Chief Okereke, noted that the Trainee Facilitators were painstakingly selected considering the technicalities involved in the conduct of the first digital census in Nigeria.

His counterpart incharge of Enugu State, Chief Ejike Eze, told the Trainee Facilitators that the success of the 2023 National Census was in their hands as the Commission was committed towards providing the country with verifiable census data in compliance with Presidential proclamation.

The Training Centre Coordinator, Mr Chike Nworonu, commended the Federal Commissioners for non interference in the selection of participants and appealed to the Trainee Facilitators to be patient while training the adhoc staff.

Two of them, Professor Chukwudozie Ajaero from University of Nigeria Nsukka and a Legal practitioner, Mrs. Ifeoma Chijoke, said they were determined to discharge their responsibilities creditably.

The event featured administration of oath of secrecy to the participants by a Magistrate, Ms. Ngozi Ngele.
