NDLEA TO PARENTS: KNOW YOUR CHILDREN’S FRIENDS, OBSERVE THEIR HABITS

REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU

As parents get set to enjoy the yuletide with their families, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) wants them to pay close attention to their children to guide them against drug abuse.

NDLEA Commander in Abia State, Mr. Yusuf Aboki, made the call while speaking with Radio Nigeria.

Mr. Aboki said there was the need for parents to know who their friends are and take seriously behavioral traits similar to those taking drugs.

These include unnecessary aggression and withdrawal from their siblings and other family members in order to hide their drug taking habit.

He warned against showering children with a lot of money, which could motivate them to go into drugs in the name of catching fun.

The Abia State NDLEA boss also enjoined youths to avoid the company of drug dealers so as not to be lured into drug abuse.
