MTEF PRESENTATION: HOUSE ASKS GOV SOLUDO TO BORROW

The Anambra State House of Assembly has commenced deliberations on the 2022-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Frame work (MTEF) aimed at
fast tracking the development of the state.
The MTEF, which was referred to the House Committee on Internally Generated Revenue for deliberations, was brought back to the House during plenary.
Presenting the executive letter from the Governor, the Deputy Majority Leader, Chief Emeka Aforka, emphasized that MTEF is a document that gives an insight into revenue and expenditure plans of Anambra State Government for the next three years and pre- requisite for the presentation of the 2023 budget estimate to the House.
In his contribution, the member representing Nnewi North Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Internally Generated Revenue, Mr. Smart Okafor, stressed the need for the Executive Council to always think outside the box with a view to safeguarding the state from depending on national projections.
This, he said, would ensure that the inefficiencies of those at the helm of monetary affairs at the national level would not jeopardize the growth and development of Anambra State.
The Deputy Speaker, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, the Chief Whip; Dr. Pete Ibida, and the member representing Anaocha Constituency Two, Chief Ejike Okechukwu, observed that the 2022-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework showed the clear cut vision of the Governor Soludo-led administration.
For his part, the member representing Ogbaru Constituency Two, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze, observed that the federal allocation to Anambra State and her internally generated revenue were not enough for rapid development of the state and advised Governor Chukwuma Soludo to source for loan or grant to meet the infrastructural needs of the state.
The Speaker, Mr. Uche Okafor, who presided over the plenary, noted that securing loan or grant would enable the governor to meet the development needs of the state.
The House later observed a minute silence in honour of the first Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazuluike Amechi, who died on November 1, 2022.
