GUNMEN ATTACK APGA GUBER CANDIDATE CONVOY, CAMPAIGN OFFICE IN EBONYI

The convoy of APGA governorship standard bearer in Ebonyi State, Professor Benard Odoh, was attacked today by armed men at Iboko, in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State.
Sharing his experience with newsmen, Professor Odo, who said they narrowly escaped dead, explained that the armed men in a Siena bus, appeared in Uniforms barricading the road leading to his campaign office before his arrival.
According to Prof Odo, the armed attackers suspected to be members of the State local vigilance group, known as Ebubeagu, invaded the venue of his campaign office, destroyed property and scared party supporters with guns while leaving some wounded.
The APGA Governorship candidate described the attack as disheartening, noting it was wrong for armed men to deny his team access to citizens in any part of the state.
He called on the Federal Government, Ebonyi State Government, the Nigerian police and other relevant agencies to ugently intervain in the matter to ensure peaceful election in the state.
Some of the victims, who were seriously injured, claimed that about five motorcycles, food and other equipment prepared for the reception of their Candidate and inauguration of their campaign office were damaged and carterd away.
When contacted by Radio Nigeria, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, said he had no knowledge of the attack.
