NSCDC ARREST SUSPECTED RAIL VANDALS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Enugu State Command, has paraded two suspects, Chekwube Onu and Okwudiri Okeke for allegedly vandalising rail tracks in Enugu.

The incident was said to have occurred on the tenth of this month in Aruokwe Village, Oduma in Aninri Local Government Area of the state.

Parading the suspects in Enugu, the state capital, NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Aloysius Udemmadu Obiorah, called on people to assist security agencies with vital information on the activities of criminals and other social misfits that make life difficult for the people in the state.

In an interview, the District Public Relations Officer, Eastern District, Nigeria Railway Corporation, Dr. Onyedikachi Onovo, called for a legislation against vandalism and sale of railway materials in open places.

Dr. Onovo appealed to leaders to caution their subjects against vandalism of critical national infrastructure located in communities.

Items recovered from the vandals included, seventy-seven rail line bolts, and nuts, one iron pipe, digger, machete, rig spanners.

Others are, two empty hydraulic accid containers, a flat spanner and two full containers of hydraulic.
