REPAIR NNEWI BRIDGE — ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY URGES SOLUDO

The Anambra State House of Assembly has called on the executive arm of government to urgently reconstruct the collapsed Ukpaka – Umudim bridge in Nnewi.

This followed a matter of urgent public importance motion moved by the member representing Nnewi North constituency, Mr. Smart Okafor during plenary.

According to Mr. Okafor, the bridge which was constructed during the tenure of former Governor Virgy Etiaba’s administration, recently collapsed thereby, causing hardship for the road users.

Mr. Okafor noted that the bridge when reconstructed would be a of great relief to people as the road was very strategic to the area.

The House presided by the Speaker, Mr. Uche Okafor, therefore, passed a resolution calling on the Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the State Commissioner for Works to urgently reconstruct the collapsed bridge to save lives and property.

The House also passed a bill for a law to establish the System of Criminal Justice Administration after the committee on Judiciary presented their report to the Repeal and Re-enact the law to the Committee of the Whole.
